A video conference was held with the participation of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as part of the 'Taza Kazakhstan' program, with the public of Abai Region joining via video link. The event took place at Republic Square in the Karagaily microdistrict of Semey city, attended by the region's akim Berik Uali, representatives of the intelligentsia, elders, deputies of the regional and city maslikhats, workers in education, medicine, sports, students – a total of about 5,000 people.
After the video conference, the region's akim delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of the 'Taza Kazakhstan' initiative and noting that fostering a culture of cleanliness is a common task for everyone.
"During the video conference with the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, our President highlighted the deep significance of the 'Taza Kazakhstan' environmental initiative and called on all Kazakhstanis to actively participate in the cleanup campaign. In fact, the 'Taza Kazakhstan' environmental initiative is not a one-time campaign but a good tradition that should continue throughout the year. Systematic work is being carried out in our region under the 'Taza Kazakhstan' environmental initiative. Last April, we launched regional clean-up drives under this program. As a result, over 349,000 residents took part in the cleanup campaigns, and 52,000 tons of waste were removed. Over 70,000 seedlings were planted as part of landscaping efforts. 191 unauthorized dumps identified through space monitoring were eliminated. This year, extensive work awaits us in this direction. The region has approved an action plan for implementing the 'Taza Kazakhstan' concept for 2024-2029, consisting of 44 measures. Under this plan, 32 measures are planned for 2026. 'Without a clean mind, the city will not be clean.' Let us not be indifferent to the cleanliness of our hometown and region. The cleanliness of public places is a mirror of each person's culture and respect for the nation. Maintaining cleanliness is not just discipline; it is our inner value. Adding beauty to the sacred land where great ancestors grew up is the sacred duty of each of us! I urge everyone to actively participate in regional clean-up drives and tree planting events," said Berik Uali.
From April 3 to May 31 of this year, a two-month sanitary and environmental campaign is being held in our region to clean, improve, and green populated areas. During this period, 29,643 residents, 2,040 organizations, and 461 units of equipment took part in organized clean-up drives. As a result, the territories of 12,218 courtyards, 97 parks and squares, and 57 monuments were cleaned, and 2,897 tons of solid household waste were taken to landfills. Under landscaping efforts, it is planned to plant 67,000 trees this year. Additionally, work is underway to plant forest belts along highways covering an area of 240 hectares.
To maintain public order and sanitary cleanliness, 4,171 administrative protocols were drawn up, and fines totaling 9.1 million tenge were imposed.
