Kazakhstan's men's beach handball team faced Iran at the 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, reports Todayinfo citing Olympic.kz.
In the first period, Kazakh water polo players won 2:1. The second period also ended in favor of our team – 5:4. However, in the third period, the Iranians prevailed 3:2. In the fourth period, Iran won again, making it 2:0. As a result, the main time ended in a draw 2:2 in periods.
To determine the winner, a penalty shootout was appointed, in which the Iranians were stronger 3:2. Thus, Kazakhstan suffered its first defeat at the Asian Games in Sanya. Earlier, Kazakhstan had beaten Thailand and Hong Kong.
The tournament is held in a round-robin system, each team plays each other. In the next match, Kazakhstan will face China on April 28.
