Kazakhstan should become a golden bridge not only on land but also in the air. Our country, considered the ninth sky of the world, is regarded as the most efficient and safe corridor for international airlines. Especially in the current turmoil, many people are eager to fly through Kazakhstan, as they seek peace of mind. So, how many planes fly through Kazakh airspace per day? What is the profit? What do future plans say?
We often say that Kazakhstan's geographical location is very advantageous from a logistical perspective. However, not everyone knows that foreign aircraft using our country's airspace pay taxes to us. For instance, Kazakhstan is among the main air corridors connecting Europe and Asia.
Approximately 1,300 planes take off and land daily, with over 40,000 flights per month. 75% of these belong to foreign airlines.
Madi Mazhitov, Managing Director of "KazAeroNavigation" RSE: - It depends on whether they fly through Kazakhstan via a short or long route. Kazakhstan's territory is vast. Therefore, their routes vary. Depending on weight and size, a fee ranging from $64 to $120 per 100 km is charged. However, the exact revenue of our company is a commercial secret.
The total area of airspace controlled by "KazAeroNavigation" is 2,757,300 square kilometers. It has established 74 air corridors with neighboring countries. Last year, the enterprise served nearly 460,000 aircraft. This year, this figure is expected to increase further.

Duman Smakov, Editor-in-Chief of FACTCHECK.KZ: - In general, transport flows passing through Kazakhstan can be monitored through several services. For example, regarding aircraft, it can be seen through services like Flightradar.
Here, we can check exactly which planes are passing through Kazakhstan, where they are headed, whether they departed from a city in Kazakhstan, or are transiting through the country's territory from abroad.
Merey Kanapiya, correspondent: - It is now 17:50. Over 120 planes are currently soaring and flying through Kazakhstan's territory. The majority belong to foreign airlines. They are heading to Europe and Asia via the west and south of our country. Payments from using airspace are spent on providing air navigation services, ensuring flight safety, and developing infrastructure. This sector is becoming one of the directions that brings a steady income to the state treasury.
Madi Mazhitov, Managing Director of "KazAeroNavigation" RSE: - When the political situation between Russia and Ukraine began in 2022, the flight flow in the airspace increased sharply. Our system was prepared for this. The high level of air traffic controllers allowed it to proceed without any issues.
In short, planes flying over Kazakhstan bring benefits to the country's economy even if they do not land. Every transit flight is an additional income for the budget and a factor increasing our country's importance in the international transport corridor. The next task, as instructed by the president, is to establish airports capable of landing and servicing the world's largest aircraft. Because, apart from passengers, cargo transportation will further enhance Kazakhstan's transit potential.
