Tourist season opened at Alakol with the 'Alakol Lights – 2026' festival

Today, on the shores of Lake Alakol, the festival 'Alakol Lights – 2026' was held to officially open the tourist season, reports Todayinfo. The event was attended by the regional governor Berik Uali, who congratulated residents and vacationers on the start of the season.

The head of the region highlighted the natural uniqueness and historical significance of Alakol, noting that the lake has become a unique holiday destination not only for Kazakhstanis but also for foreign tourists.

'Since time immemorial, Alakol has been a symbol of beauty, the most memorable point of our steppe, known to scientists and travelers throughout Asia and Europe. Today, Alakol has become a magnet for tourists not only from all over the country but also from neighboring states and far abroad. The festival 'Alakol Lights' is being held for the first time. Today's event was attended by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Seken Turysbek and other talented performers. I sincerely congratulate everyone on the start of the summer season on the pearl of our country – the healing Alakol,' said Berik Uali.

The governor announced that such concert programs will continue until August, twice a week – on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Artists from cities and districts of the region, participants of the regional contest 'Abai eli – oner kenishi' will entertain vacationers.

As part of the festival, People's Artist of Kazakhstan, kui composer Seken Turysbek, traditional singer Dinislambek Zhailau, as well as pop stars Dana Kentai, Erkesh Hasen, Kanai, and Zarina Omarova performed. Their performances gave the audience unforgettable impressions. The event ended with a festive fireworks display.

On the eve of the tourist season, infrastructure renovation and landscaping work was carried out on the shores of Alakol. On the instructions of the President, to create comfortable conditions for vacationers, more than 50 sanitary facilities, 35 shower cabins, 110 changing rooms, 100 garbage containers, and 150 waste collection containers were installed.

To ensure the safety of tourists, shields 5,000 meters long were installed on the coast. 224 video surveillance cameras are operating. Over the past two years, 10 kilometers of streets have been asphalted on the lake shore. Notably, this year, with the support of the Government, construction of a 72-kilometer power line 'Koktal-Alakol' has begun. This project will fundamentally solve the problem of electricity shortage on the shores of Alakol.
