A major road accident involving four vehicles occurred on the Almaty – Oskemen highway. As a result, one person died and several others sustained various injuries, reports Todayinfo.kz citing 24KZ.
According to the police department of the Abai region, the accident happened on July 9 at approximately 08:40 at the 885th kilometer of the highway near the village of Zharma.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a Volkswagen Polo veered into the oncoming lane. Consequently, he collided with a Volvo truck. Subsequently, a Toyota Windom passenger car and a DAF truck also collided. A passenger of the Volkswagen Polo died at the scene.
Several other people were taken to the hospital with various bodily injuries. A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding this incident. All circumstances of the incident are currently being determined.
