- National Book Day has been celebrated on the initiative of the Head of State since 2024. There are 150 libraries in the region, and all of them are actively holding events dedicated to Book Day. We are not limited only to meetings, but also widely use modern new formats. At the same time, there is a great interest among young people, which we are happy about. By awakening young people's love for books, we can contribute to their cultural, spiritual, educational and cognitive development and broaden their horizons, - said the head of the regional department of culture, archives and documentation Kuanysh Suleimenov.
For example, the Central Library named after Saken Seifullin organized a discussion evening "Book and Opinion Platform", a literary podcast "Authors of the Region – in the Language of the World", an intellectual game "Who is Quick-witted?", while in the Koksu District Library there was a book exhibition "Today's Trend – Reading Books", a quiz "If You Are Quick-witted, Try to Guess", a fashion show "New Books", and a stage performance "Struggle of Centuries: Book and Smartphone".
Questions were asked about characters from works of classics of Kazakh and foreign literature, as well as other questions related to books, and an exchange of views took place. New and rare copies of books were presented and shown, and the advantages and disadvantages of books and modern gadgets were discussed.
Local schoolchildren, library readers, writers, and all book lovers took part in these events.
- The evening "Book and Opinion Platform" was very meaningful and interesting. We competed by making correct words from mixed-up letters related to books, found various hidden characters, freely expressed our thoughts and got acquainted with different views on the book. I constantly come to the library named after Seifullin. After such interesting evenings, our interest in reading books increases, - says a young reader, a 7th grade student of school No. 15 in Taldykorgan, Ayazhan Sabitkyzy.
Representatives of the mobile literary school "Mizam", who actively participate in these events, also expressed their opinion.
- The school "Mizam" we created covers various methods of teaching reading as much as possible and is constantly involved in such events. The "Mizam" school is not just a literary environment, it is a spiritual platform that forms a personality through books. Our goal is to make reading not a duty, but a way of life. Reading books is not only understanding the text, but also thinking together with the character, immersing in the author's world, knowing your own essence. Thanks to this approach, students' vocabulary is enriched, thinking deepens, and spiritual horizons expand, - says lecturer of the mobile literary school "Mizam", poet Mukhtar Kumisbek.
Such events, aimed at increasing the significance of National Book Day and forming a culture of reading in society, covered all districts and cities.
