In the Katon-Karagay district of the East Kazakhstan region, the international festival "Altai – the Golden Cradle of the Turkic World" has kicked off, Todayinfo.kz reports, citing the press service of the akim of the East Kazakhstan region.
The opening of the event was marked by kokpar competitions. Over the course of two days, teams arriving from various regions will compete for victory.
Then, on the territory of the historical and cultural complex "Valley of the Kings" near the village of Berel, a memorial as was held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned poet Aktan Nurbayev. Writers, cultural figures, and relatives of the poet participated in the event.
In the evening, several dozen guests gathered for the republican poetry festival "Tör Altai Aqtanyn zhyrlaydy." Poems were recited surrounded by the mountains, and the event was also attended by the akim of the East Kazakhstan region, Nurymbet Saktaganov.
"Sacred Tör Altai is a land where snow-capped peaks seem to converse with the sky, transparent springs play the melody of eternity, where just touching a stone brings history to life, and the earth generously bestows its riches. Not only to be born here, but even to simply gather on this land is a great happiness. Today we are here to jointly celebrate at the national level the 100th anniversary of the outstanding poet Aktan Nurbayev, who was born in these places. For us, this anniversary is a triumph of Kazakh poetry, the pride of Altai, and a celebration of the national spirit," said the head of the region.
At the poetry festival, famous poets and writers who arrived from across the country read their works. Participants included: Yerbol Alshynbai (Abai region), Indira Kereyeva (Aktobe region), Sherkhan Talap (Astana), Dilda Ualibek (Astana), Aibek Oralkhan (Pavlodar region), Pirzhan Sandybai (Kyzylorda region), Askerkhan Aktai (East Kazakhstan region), Muratkhan Kenzhekhanuly (EKR), Olzhas Kereikhan (EKR), Orazai Zhenisuly (EKR), Kyzyrbek Durginbaiuly (EKR), Yesenbol Nauryzbai (EKR), Yestai Zhanabai (EKR), Kumar Ziyatkhan (EKR), and Maksat Dauylbaiuly (Astana city). Each of them received a monetary reward of half a million tenge.
On July 11 at 11:00 AM, the republican aitys of akyns "Aktanymyn Altaidyn" will begin. In the evening, artists from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan (Republic of Uzbekistan), Bashkortostan (Russian Federation), and the Republic of Tuva (Russian Federation) will take the stage.
The main headliner of the evening will be Dimash Kudaibergen.
