Kazakhstan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are elevating cooperation in the agricultural sector to a new level. The parties prioritize technology introduction, sustainable development, and enhancing food security, reports Todayinfo news agency.

Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov held a meeting with FAO Deputy Director-General Viorel Gutsu. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of the partnership program, preparation and coordination of joint projects, as well as prospects for further interaction.

“Thanks to the coordinated work of expert groups, we have reached the final stage of preparing key documents. It is important that each project complies with international standards and national priorities for the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. I am confident that these initiatives will give a strong impetus to the technological renewal of agriculture,” said Saparov.

Within the partnership program, special attention is paid to a number of strategic projects. In particular, under the national initiative “Kazakhstan Varieties and Seeds,” data collection has been completed in Akmola, Almaty, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan regions. The project to develop a national system for monitoring, assessment, and verification of soil organic carbon is planned for 2026–2029. The project to improve locust control and forecasting will use digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, the Ministry of Agriculture and FAO are implementing 10 key projects worth about $9.5 million.
