Kazakh farmers have received additional time to protect their crops from drought, one of the main threats to agriculture. The extension of the insurance period allows farmers to protect their harvest in a timely manner and reduce financial losses, reports the Todayinfo news agency.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the deadline for accepting applications for insurance of spring crops against moisture deficit has been extended until April 30, 2026. This decision gives additional opportunities to farmers in 11 regions of the country: Akmola, Aktobe, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan regions, as well as Abai and Ulytau regions.

The ministry explained that agricultural producers can choose the most convenient insurance format for grain and oilseed crops. For grain crops, three-phase insurance covers the period from May 15 to August 15, while two-phase insurance covers from June 15 to August 15. For oilseed crops, under the three-phase program, protection is valid from June 15 to September 14, and under the two-phase program, from July 15 to September 14, 2026.

The Ministry of Agriculture reminded that the state subsidizes 80% of the cost of the insurance policy. The operator of payments is the Agrarian Credit Corporation, which makes the insurance mechanism accessible to a wide range of farms. Applications are accepted remotely through the special portal Kezekte.kz. Timely execution of the insurance contract allows farmers to minimize financial risks associated with adverse weather conditions during the growing season.
