A significant personnel change has occurred in Kazakhstan's construction industry: Akan Bakytzhan, a representative of the new generation of managers, has been elected president of the Union of Builders of Kazakhstan, reports Todayinfo news agency.

On April 27, 2026, in Astana, at a meeting of the Republican Association of Legal Entities 'Union of Builders of Kazakhstan', Akan Bakytzhan was elected president of the organization. At the same time, Talgat Yergaliyev remains chairman of the presidium of the Union of Builders of Kazakhstan, who has headed the association for many years and made a significant contribution to its establishment as one of the key industry platforms of the construction market in Kazakhstan.

Akan Bakytzhan represents a new generation of managers in the construction industry. His professional career began with engineering work: over the years, he worked as a quality engineer, state construction inspector, headed the estimate department of the construction department of Astana, and held managerial positions in state and corporate structures. Since 2020, he has been heading the group of companies The Akan Building.

The new president has specialized education in the field of construction: in 2007 he graduated from the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University with a degree in 'construction engineering and technology'. In 2014, he received a bachelor's degree in law from Maqsut Narikbayev University (formerly KAZGUU University), and in 2016, an MBA in business administration from the same university.

'It is a great responsibility for me to head the Union of Builders of Kazakhstan — an association representing the interests of one of the key sectors of the country's economy. Construction today is a driver of economic growth, creates jobs and directly affects the quality of life of citizens. We intend to consistently promote the interests of union members, including as the largest employers in the country, and strengthen their representation in expert and public-business discussions. I also consider it an important task for the union to actively participate in shaping decisions affecting the development of the industry: on the platforms of the Atameken NCE, in the work of urban planning councils, discussion of master plans and other strategic issues. The union should be a platform where the voice of the professional community is heard and taken into account,' said Akan Bakytzhan.

The Union of Builders of Kazakhstan unites more than 1,700 construction companies across the country and is one of the largest industry associations in Kazakhstan.
