A ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of Civil Servants was held at the Congress Hall multifunctional complex in Turkestan, reports Todayinfo. The festive gathering was attended by the akim of Turkestan region Nuralkhan Kosherov, who congratulated citizens working fruitfully in the field of civil service on their professional holiday.
– I sincerely congratulate you on June 23 – Civil Servant Day! Faithful service to the people is an honorable and important mission. Our President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted: 'Every civil servant must be a statesman.' Therefore, being true to our oath to the Motherland and justifying the trust of the people is a great trust and responsibility placed on each of us. Dear colleagues! This year marks 8 years since Turkestan became the regional center. In this short time, thanks to your hard work, Turkestan region has developed dynamically. 134 healthcare facilities, 443 sports facilities, and 185 schools have been built in the region. Sports, culture, and tourism facilities of international standard have been erected. Today, world-class sports competitions and cultural events are regularly held at these facilities. Recently, an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States was held in the regional center. Presidents of five countries specially arrived, and our historical city gained international recognition. Turkestan was in the spotlight of the world. Thanks to the President's initiative, Turkestan, which received special status, has changed beyond recognition in 8 years. As a result of state support, the gross regional product increased 3 times and reached 5 trillion tenge. The region's population grew by 9 percent, exceeding 2.1 million people. The population of Turkestan city increased from 165,000 to 242,000, a 40 percent increase. Our region is leading the republic in terms of socio-economic development indicators. According to the results of the first five months of this year, short-term economic growth amounted to 123.3 percent, and our region took first place in the republic. This is the result of the round-the-clock work and sweat of civil servants. I express my sincere gratitude to all of you for this honest work. We must continue this intensive and effective work. There is a wise saying by Alikhan Bokeikhanov: 'Service to the nation is not from education, but from character.' Therefore, we are obliged to show perseverance for the benefit of the country and justify trust. Always serve the people faithfully. I wish you good health, well-being to your families! At the festive gathering, civil servants who contributed to the socio-economic development of the region were awarded. The regional akim presented state and departmental awards, Certificates of Honor, and Letters of Appreciation to a number of citizens. Also, the chairman of the Turkestan regional maslikhat, Nuraly Abishov, awarded employees who achieved excellent results in their field.
During the event, artists from Turkestan region performed, creating a festive mood.
It is worth noting that today in the region, 6,327 civil servants work in 520 institutions. Of these, 3,618 are employees of local executive bodies. Last year, 262 civil servants were promoted based on the principle of meritocracy. This is the result of knowledge, experience, work, and search. Thanks to the political reforms of the Head of State, new leaders came to the management system. Since 2021, 272 village akims have been elected by direct popular vote in our region. 32 talented young people were accepted into the regional personnel reserve, and today 19 of them have been appointed to responsible positions.
