Chairman of the BAITAK party Azamatkhan Amirtayev stated on social media that he was denied entry to Russia. According to him, after waiting several hours at Moscow airport, he was returned to Kazakhstan without explanation, reports Todayinfo news agency.
Amirtayev said that on April 24 he was supposed to fly from Astana to Moscow, initially on an Aeroflot flight. "After passing Kazakh customs and border control, when I headed to the boarding gate, I was informed by phone that my surname was on some list and I would not be allowed on the plane. Then the Russian Green Party urgently sent a request to the competent authorities of the Russian Federation, after which I was told there was nothing serious and I could fly to Moscow on the nearest flight," he wrote.
The politician flew on a SCAT flight. But upon arrival in Moscow, he was sent for additional inspection. According to Amirtayev, from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. he was held in a waiting area without explanation, after which border service officers offered him to sign a document on returning to Kazakhstan. "At 9 a.m., a border service officer came to me and said: 'Sign the document. You are being returned to Kazakhstan.' To my question 'Why?' they replied 'We don't know.' I have not broken the law. I pose no threat. Why return a person who came to talk about ecology without any explanation?" Amirtayev said indignantly.

Recall that the BAITAK party emerged in 2022, participated in the Mazhilis elections and received 2.3% of the vote. In 2023, a conflict began within the party: part of the political council tried to remove Amirtayev from leadership, accusing him of violating the charter and non-transparent management. Amirtayev called it an attempted raider takeover.
