In Georgia's Imereti region, citizens of Kazakhstan and Ukraine have been detained on suspicion of drug-related offenses, reports Todayinfo.
According to preliminary data, a young man and a woman born in 2008 are suspected of illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of drugs in large and especially large quantities. They were apprehended at different times.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation established the suspects' involvement in the illegal storage and sale of methadone in especially large quantities. During searches of their temporary residences, narcotic substances were seized.
Additionally, during an investigative experiment, the suspects pointed out locations where the drugs were hidden. Police also seized tools for weighing and packaging drugs as evidence. The ministry released a video of the suspects' arrest.
A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 260 and 260(4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia. These articles provide for penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
