Karaganda region is strengthening social adaptation of convicts, reports Todayinfo. At the forum 'Path to a Bright Future', organized by the regional prosecutor's office and akimat, issues of employment, education and public support for persons on probation were discussed.
The forum was held within the framework of the national ideology 'Law and Order'. The state, business and public organizations have joined forces to help citizens who have broken the law return to normal life. The main goal is not only employment, but also the opportunity to acquire a profession and restore social ties.
Akim of the region Yermaganbet Bolekpaev noted that comprehensive measures to support persons on probation are being systematically implemented in the region.
— The head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the main goal of the penal system is not only punishment, but also helping a person to reform and reintegrate into society. The state can open new opportunities, employers can provide jobs. However, the step to a new life is made by the person himself, — said the head of the region.
Regional prosecutor Murat Tileuberdiev reported that more than a thousand citizens are on probation, hundreds have been employed permanently. Vocational training and social assistance programs are being implemented, and the Socium digital platform and FSM Social mobile application have been introduced.
Since the beginning of the year, 60 job fairs have been held with the participation of more than 600 employers. Quota jobs are allocated for persons on probation. One of those who took advantage of this opportunity is Karaganda resident Olzhas Yersain, who got a job at the Karaganda-Nan enterprise and has been working there for about six months.
— When I was on probation, I had no permanent job. Through the Employment Center, I was helped to get a job. Now I have a stable salary and want to continue working. If a person is helped to find a job, he gets a chance to start a new life and build a future with honest work, — says Olzhas Yersain.
Following the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed. The document provides for joint work of state bodies, employers and public organizations on employment, vocational training, social adaptation and resocialization of persons on probation.
