In Kazakhstan, more than a thousand industrial accidents are recorded annually at enterprises, with about 200 resulting in fatalities. This was reported by Orda.kz, citing data from the Ministry of Labor.
The highest number of injuries is recorded at mining and metallurgical enterprises (17–18% of total victims) and in the construction industry (about 10–12%). Over the past five years, the number of people injured at work has decreased by 8.3%.
About 500,000 Kazakhstani citizens work in harmful and hazardous conditions. More than 100,000 people are engaged in heavy physical labor. Annually, 650–700 thousand workers receive compensation for working in harmful conditions.
Kazakhstan is implementing the concept of safe labor until 2030. Its goal is to improve working conditions, reduce injuries and occupational diseases. To achieve this, approaches to financing labor protection are being changed, the role of accident insurance is being strengthened, training quality is being improved, and public control is being enhanced.
As part of the concept, the Digital Map of Enterprises and the Digital Map of Labor Risks have been launched. They allow real-time monitoring of risks at production sites and taking preventive measures. Additionally, artificial intelligence-based solutions are being introduced into the field of labor protection, which analyze data on enterprise operations and incidents, helping to identify the causes of injuries and prevent them.
