The Agency for Financial Monitoring of the Republic of Kazakhstan commented on the statements made by blogger Elmira Tolegenova in court.
Earlier, during a court hearing, Tolegenova stated that she and her husband were pressured during the investigation, threatened with confiscation of property and deletion of the account on the Instagram social network. She also said that investigative authorities may have demanded money.
The AFM reported that Yerbolat Zhanabylov and Elmira Tolegenova participated in investigative actions only with the mandatory presence of lawyers.
The agency noted that at the pre-trial investigation stage, as well as during familiarization with the case materials, no official complaints about pressure, threats or other illegal actions were received from these individuals to the AFM, prosecutor's office or court.
It was also stated that all investigative actions involving the defendants were recorded by audio and video recording in accordance with the established procedure.
In addition, the AFM added that the stated arguments are currently being verified and will receive an appropriate legal assessment.
The bloggers' case is being heard in court, the process continues.
