Over 4,000 parents in Almaty have been affected by the activities of the Tesla Education center, which suddenly ceased operations, leaving families with substantial debts for services never rendered, reports Todayinfo. The center was preparing students for the Unified National Testing (UNT).
According to one of the affected parents, she signed a contract for her son's preparation on September 5, 2025, and paid the tuition in advance. However, classes only ran for two months. During this time, lessons were frequently canceled, teachers resigned, and contractual obligations were systematically violated.
In mid-November, the center simply stopped working: offices were closed, the educational process was halted, and the management and staff's phones went unanswered. Over 4,000 parents in Almaty were affected. The amounts families paid range from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 tenge.
"These are not wealthy families. These are ordinary parents who cannot afford private schools and take out loans or installment plans (mostly through Kaspi Bank) to give their children a chance at quality preparation," said one of the mothers.
After the center's closure, parents began to file complaints with law enforcement agencies en masse. Statements were submitted on November 18, 2025, with attached contracts and payment receipts.
Almost 6 months have passed, but no concrete action has been taken by the investigative bodies: there has not been a single interrogation, no information has been provided, and the case is effectively stalled. At the district police department, parents are told the same thing: "Wait."
Meanwhile, many families continue to pay off loans for education that was not provided. Attempts to suspend payments through the bank have resulted in damaged credit histories. Against this backdrop, another center, "Juzqaraq Online 140," demonstrated social responsibility by accepting affected 10th and 11th-grade students for free.
"My son was enrolled in three subjects. For over 5 months, his education has been free and of high quality, with weekly reports and knowledge checks. This has been real support for our family during a difficult time," the parent added.
