Almaty Region's 'Cleanliness Days': 39,000 Participants Collected 760 Tons of Waste

The three-day 'Cleanliness Days' campaign in Almaty region concluded, with nearly 39,000 residents collecting over 760 tons of waste from tourist destinations. The initiative aims to improve the region's environmental situation.

Almaty Region's 'Cleanliness Days': 39,000 Participants Collected 760 Tons of Waste

Nearly 39,000 residents of Almaty region participated in the three-day 'Cleanliness Days' campaign, collecting over 760 tons of waste from recreational areas along tourist routes, reports Todayinfo. Today, the head of the region, Marat Sultangaziyev, expressed gratitude to the citizens who actively participated in the clean-up efforts for three days during the subbotnik held in the Kaskelen gorge.

At the final event, citizens and organizations who made a special contribution to the campaign were awarded in various nominations. Specifically, Asylym Kosherbay from Zhambyl district was named 'Most Active Young Participant', Riza Sauyrbayeva from Alatau city 'Most Active Senior Participant', and Alexander Orlanov, director of the 'GOGO CENTRAL ASIA' association in Karasay district, 'Most Active Eco-Volunteer'. Bakytzhan Khamzin, a resident of Balkhash district, received the 'Cleanest Yard' nomination.

Furthermore, Avat village in Enbekshikazakh district was recognized as 'Most Active Village', Raimbek Batyr Street in Kainar village of Raimbek district as 'Cleanest Street', and the 'Sharyn' State National Nature Park in Uygur district as 'Most Active Collective'. Ile district was named 'Most Active District', 'Nomads' Town' in Konaev city 'Cleanest Tourist Object', and 'MERGEN HOLDING' LLP in Kegen district received an award as 'Most Active Business Representative'.

The regional akim noted that the Kaskelen gorge, where the sky meets the earth and which is surrounded by pine forests, is one of the most frequently visited beautiful places by residents and guests of the region, and maintaining the cleanliness of such natural areas is one of the main goals of today's campaign.

The 'Taza Kazakhstan' environmental program, initiated by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is not just about participating in a clean-up. It is also about the purification of one's soul and mind. Such events should become a part of our daily lives and a habit. In this regard, we announced 'Cleanliness Days' for the three-day holiday. Special attention was paid to the cleanliness of tourist sites. We will continue this work in the future, — said Marat Sultangaziyev.

The clean-ups covered areas of the region with high tourism potential. Specifically, sanitary cleaning, waste removal, landscaping, and greening works were carried out at Kolsay and Kaindy lakes, Sharyn canyon, Turgen canyon, Issyk lake, Kapshagay reservoir, the coast of Balkhash lake, Kurty area, Kaskelen gorge, and other popular destinations.

For instance, 140 tons of waste were removed in Karasay district, 113 tons in Kegen district, nearly 28 tons in Uygur district, 82 tons in Ile district, 71 tons in Alatau city, 173 tons in Enbekshikazakh district, 21.5 tons in Balkhash district, 20 tons in Raimbek district, approximately 22 tons in Konaev city, 58 tons in Talgar district, and 36 tons in Zhambyl district.

Hundreds of special vehicles were mobilized for the campaign, resulting in comprehensive sanitary cleaning, landscaping, and greening works in tourist destinations and settlements. Additionally, over 13,000 tree seedlings were planted.

This campaign aims not only to improve the ecological situation in the region but also to increase residents' responsibility towards nature and maintain the attractiveness of tourist areas.
