According to the City Department of Emergency Situations (DES), sirens will sound in Almaty at 11:00 AM on May 14. This is being conducted as part of a planned city-wide seismic drill.
On the day of the seismic drill at 11:00 AM, the city's warning system will be activated by launching siren-speech units, intercepting TV and radio channels, and sending notifications via mobile applications, — stated DES representatives.
After the audible signal, Almaty residents need to turn on their television, radio, or check official internet resources and mobile applications. Instructions on what actions to take will be published there.
Almaty residents are advised to prepare an emergency kit in advance and determine the route to the nearest safe place. An open area without buildings and communications is considered the safest zone.
It is noted that 384 public reception points will be deployed in the city. These points play an important role in evacuating and accommodating residents in the event of an earthquake.
