Former first deputy akim of East Kazakhstan region Zhaksylyk Omar filed an appeal, reports the news portal Todayinfo.kz. Sentenced to six years in prison, Zhaksylyk Omar disagrees with the decision. This information was confirmed by the East Kazakhstan Regional Court.
"However, the case has not yet been submitted for consideration of the appeal," the court's press service noted.
Recall that on April 3, in court No. 2 of Ust-Kamenogorsk, the court found Zhaksylyk Omar guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison with confiscation of property. Also, his Toyota car was confiscated, and he was deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service, the judicial system, local government bodies, and the quasi-public sector for life. Earlier in court, the prosecutor read the charges on two episodes. The first episode concerns the period when Zhaksylyk Omar worked as the akim of Ust-Kamenogorsk. According to the investigation, a person recognized as a victim, at someone's request, applied for a car as material assistance from one of the city enterprises. As a result, he received a 2021 Toyota Camry 75. Later, according to him, the car was delivered to the akimat building, the keys were handed over, after which he never saw it again. Subsequently, the car was re-registered to a third party and exchanged under a trade-in program for a new model. According to the investigation, the accused used this car. The damage caused to the victim was estimated at 13 million tenge. In this regard, Zhaksylyk Omar was charged under paragraphs 1 and 2 of part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code. However, in court, the victim stated that the damage was compensated and he had no claims.
