Residents of Kerbulak district complained about the condition of a landfill in Koksu rural district. Decomposing remains of cattle and other animals were found among household waste, reports Todayinfo.
The issue was reported by the branch of the People's Party of Kazakhstan on social media. A published video shows animal carcasses in various stages of decomposition lying on the landfill site.
“This situation indicates a gross violation of sanitary requirements and poses a direct threat to epidemiological safety. Animal remains could become a source of dangerous infectious diseases. The unfenced landfill attracts stray animals and insects, creating favorable conditions for the spread of infections,” the video description said.
The akimat of Koksu rural district stated that the removal of solid household waste, following public procurement, should be handled by Saryozek Recycling LLP. The contract with the company was signed on March 17, 2026.
“This LLP has not carried out sanitary cleaning of solid waste to date. Additionally, we inform that the akimat sent a notification to Saryozek Recycling LLP,” the authority said.
Authorities claim that the company will begin cleaning the landfill in the near future.
