Astana has started towing illegally parked cars since April 28. Violators are taken to municipal impound lots, reports Todayinfo.
The city administration explains that improperly parked cars overload roads and hinder traffic. "Violations of stopping and parking rules reduce street capacity by up to 50 percent. This leads to congestion and restricts movement," said Marat Saduov, director of the traffic management center.
The process is fully digitized. Cameras record violations and send data to the police. The owner then receives a notification in eGov Mobile, and the towing decision is made through digital services. "If the driver returns and removes the car before the tow truck arrives, the vehicle will not be taken. In this case, the police officer will only issue a fine," the administration reported.
If the car has already been towed, information can be obtained by calling 102 or 112. To retrieve the vehicle, you need to get permission from the police department and go to the impound lot. Towing costs 3 MCI, storage is paid separately.
