Family Day is being celebrated in Belarus today, reports Todayinfo.
International Family Day is observed annually on May 15th, in accordance with a resolution of the UN General Assembly. In Belarus, this day also marks a national holiday – Family Day.
A strong family is considered the foundation for the development of the state. According to the 2019 population census, there were 2,612,413 families in Belarus.
In 2025, 52,044 marriages were registered in the country. The number of multi-child families is gradually increasing in the republic, currently accounting for 9.2% of the total, with three or more children being raised in these families.
The state maintains its social obligations to support families with children. The country has ensured an increase in benefit amounts for them, introduced additional types of material support, and provides a wide range of social services.
According to the Ministry of Labor, expenditures on state benefits for families raising children amounted to almost 3.7 billion rubles in 2025, while maternity benefits totaled 304.2 million rubles.
A series of guarantees and support measures are also provided for families raising orphans and children left without parental care. Monthly monetary payments are ensured for foster parents, educator parents, and guardians, and funds for utility services related to the upbringing of orphans are reimbursed.
