Facts of a 'black market' for water have been uncovered in the Turkestan region, reports Todayinfo. This issue is becoming particularly pressing amid the escalating water scarcity in the region.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement agencies have exposed several schemes of illegal water sales. These include unauthorized water abstraction, its sale at inflated prices, and the embezzlement of water resources.
It was discovered that some individuals and organizations illegally used water intended for agriculture and residents, selling it for commercial purposes. These actions have led to a reduction in irrigated lands in the region and caused discontent among the local population.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated based on these facts, and investigative measures are underway. Efforts are being made to bring the culprits to justice and improve the system of effective water resource management.
