Over 8,000 people took part in the large-scale 'Kitap FEST' festival held on Sultan Beybarys Square. An event of this level was held in the region for the first time and became a notable event in the cultural life of the region.

The book fair featured over 5,000 book titles. Eight publishing houses from the republic and book networks from the region's districts participated. According to the festival results, about 4,000 books were sold, indicating high interest in reading among residents.

Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov delivered a welcoming speech. He congratulated guests on the National Book Day and presented awards to the most active readers of the region.

In his speech, the head of the region emphasized that the goal set by the President of the country to become a reading nation is not just a slogan, but a strategic guideline leading society to cultural development.

- From April 16 to 23, as part of the week dedicated to the National Book Day, many events were organized in the region. This is clear evidence that interest in reading continues to grow. Today's festival brought together famous poets, writers, literary figures and representatives of publishing houses. Your work is the spiritual heritage of the nation. Through words, you shape public consciousness and guide the younger generation. For this, I express sincere gratitude. I also express gratitude to all library workers, - said the akim of the region.

The festival continued with a rich cultural program. A children's musical and a theatrical prologue dedicated to the works of outstanding Atyrau poets became a bright accent. 'Kitap FEST' ended with a concert program featuring Kazakhstani pop stars and local artists.
