Construction of House of Friendship Begins in Almaty Region

Construction of the regional House of Friendship building has begun in Konaev, Almaty region, reports Todayinfo. This important project, aimed at strengthening social harmony and inter-ethnic peace in the region, is being implemented at the expense of large local entrepreneurs.

During the event, Marat Sultangaziev, Akim of the region, and Zhanbolat Zhorgenbaev, Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the chairmen of regional ethnocultural associations, laid a time capsule in the foundation of the building, — reports the press service of the Almaty Region Akimat.

The solemn ceremony was attended by deputies of the regional maslikhat, heads of departments, representatives of the intelligentsia and entrepreneurs, members of ethnocultural associations, councils of elders and mothers, and employees of the Center for Public Accord and Development. Currently, representatives of 105 ethnic groups live peacefully in the region.

34 ethnocultural associations and public organizations registered in the region are undertaking various social projects, contributing to the strengthening of peace and trust. Therefore, this House of Friendship is set to become a common home, uniting these structures. Here, all conditions will be created for their effective work, and a modern environment will be formed to support youth initiatives, exchange opinions, and implement cultural and public projects.

The head of the region noted in his speech that the start of construction of the House of Friendship is a historically significant and important event for the region.

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the past XXXIV session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, gave a specific instruction on the need to build a House of Friendship in the multi-ethnic Almaty region. Today we are witnessing the implementation of this important instruction. As you know, the state always provides special support for the socio-economic development of our region. As a result, wide opportunities have opened up for the development of entrepreneurship and production in the region. In particular, from 2022 to 2025, 3.7 trillion tenge of investments were attracted to the Almaty region. 120 projects with a total cost of 930.3 billion tenge were put into operation, creating 14 thousand new jobs. Effectively using these opportunities, our entrepreneurs, who have made a significant contribution to the development of the region's economy, are today demonstrating a high example of civic responsibility to the country by supporting the construction of the House of Friendship at their own expense. I believe that this home will become a center of unity and harmony in the country, — said Marat Yeleusizuly.

Vera Pletneva, Chairman of the Republican Public Association «Assambleya Zhastary» for the Almaty region, said that the new building would open up new opportunities.

Today we are all witnesses to a historic moment. Currently, Kazakhstan unites representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups under one shanyrak, being a herald of true friendship. It is not for nothing that it is said: “Where there is unity, there is life.” Our main goal is to promote peace and contribute to the development of our country. And the appearance of the House of Friendship in the Almaty region will give impetus to our work and help us conquer new heights. This especially instills great hope and enthusiasm in the youth of the Assembly, — she said, thanking the regional akimat and the entrepreneurs who initiated the project.

The facility will be two-story, consisting of one block. According to the project, offices for ethnocultural centers and associations, a conference hall for 56 seats, and an assembly hall for 300 seats will be built. Also, a State flagpole 92 meters high will be installed in front of the building. Construction of the facility will be carried out for three months and will be put into operation by the end of the year.
