Since the night of May 6, videos have been circulating online, allegedly filmed in the border area near the Khorgos International Center for Boundary Cooperation, specifically the Nur Zholy checkpoint. The footage clearly shows dozens of heavy trucks burning, reports Todayinfo.
Social media users are reporting that the goods being transported in the trailers may have also been destroyed along with the vehicles. Chinese authorities have not yet officially disclosed the extent of the damage or the contents of the trucks.
Furthermore, Kazakh citizens have started to report that their goods from China were also lost in the fire. Entrepreneur Dinara Mendibayeva announced on her social media that she lost seven tons of cargo.
These are orders that many of you have already paid for and are waiting for. I am in shock and am currently experiencing perhaps one of the most difficult moments in all my years of work. These are huge financial losses, invested effort, time, and health.
The Department of Emergency Situations for Zhetysu region reported that the fire occurred on May 4. “However, no reports were received by the emergency services '101' and '112' as this territory belongs to the People's Republic of China,” the department stated.
There is currently no information on casualties or the cause of the fire. Earlier, our editorial team reported that a large warehouse in Almaty region caught fire. During the extinguishing efforts, the metal roof partially collapsed, making it harder to reach the source of the blaze.
