Officers of the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) detained an individual impersonating one of their colleagues in Shymkent, reports Todayinfo. The man was posing as an employee of the economic investigation service to solicit bribes.
In September 2025, the suspect contacted the head of a local medical company, claiming to be a law enforcement officer. He offered to remove the company from the inspection list of the Department of Economic Investigations (DEI) in exchange for 25 million tenge.
The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A pre-trial investigation into the incident is currently underway.
