A major fire occurred in a multi-story building in the village of Irgeli, Almaty Region. An emergency alert was received at the 112 dispatch center: two adjacent two-room apartments on the ninth floor caught fire.
The height of the building and the density of the structures forced rescuers to operate in a high-alert mode. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began rescuing people. Under heavy smoke conditions, 25 people, including 7 children, were evacuated via the stairwell. Another 20 residents (with 5 children) left the building on their own before the rescuers arrived.
The main task of the firefighters was to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring apartments and the roof. Thanks to prompt and coordinated actions, the fire was contained within two apartments.
Fortunately, the incident ended without casualties or injuries. Currently, specialists are determining the exact cause of the fire and assessing the damage caused.
