The Aktobe Regional Prosecutor's Office uncovered a corruption scheme in the distribution of state housing. The investigation found that the former head of the city's housing relations department abused his authority to help 15 people obtain apartments out of turn.
The scheme involved initially allocating uninhabitable housing, which was later exchanged for improved apartments through housing commission decisions. The apartments were then privatized and sold, indicating a profit motive, according to the prosecutor's office.
On April 29, Court No. 2 of Aktobe found the former official guilty and sentenced him to six years in prison. Earlier, Todayinfo reported on a similar fraud with a state apartment in Stepnogorsk.
