Renowned Russian journalist Vladimir Molchanov, the creator of the iconic program "Before and After Midnight," has passed away at the age of 75, reports Todayinfo.
His death was announced by his friend, journalist and writer Yuri Rost, on his Telegram channel. According to Rost, Molchanov died after a long illness.
"A wonderful, dignified man, Volodya Molchanov, has passed away. A talented and intelligent Russian intellectual, a moral journalist, a brilliant television presenter, an honest writer, and my great friend. The loss is immense and irreplaceable," Yuri Rost wrote.
From 1973 to 1986, Vladimir Molchanov worked as an editor at the "Novosti" Press Agency. In 1987, he became the host of the program "Before and After Midnight" on Central Television of the USSR, which aired once or twice a month.
The show was broadcast until 1991 and was the first program of an unconventional format for television at that time. Among other things, it featured interviews with famous personalities and played popular Western music.
The first episode of "Before and After Midnight" featured an interview with actor Andrei Mironov. This program became one of the most popular, watched by millions of people.
