Mukhtar Magauin's Headstone Unveiled in Washington: Kazakh Cultural Center Opens in US
In Washington D.C., a headstone was unveiled for the prominent Kazakh writer Mukhtar Magauin, marking the official opening of a cultural and educational center named in his honor.
In Washington, a headstone was installed at the grave of the great Kazakh writer, researcher, and historian Mukhtar Magauin, and the official presentation of the "Mukhtar Magauin Kazakh National Cultural and Educational Center" in America took place, reports Todayinfo.
Mukhtar Magauin dedicated his entire conscious life to the Kazakh people. By the age of 85, he had written a 27-volume work, spiritually restoring five centuries of Kazakh history. Future generations will undoubtedly continue to appreciate our ancestor's great work. There has been no writer in Kazakh history who has written so many books.
Mukhtar Magauin's main contributions:
1. Presented Kazakh history not from a Russian perspective, but through the eyes of the Kazakh people themselves.
2. Revived forgotten historical facts and figures.
3. Reawakened national historical consciousness through literature.
4. Refuted the false notion that "Kazakhs had neither a state, nor an idea, nor thinkers."
Our ancestor Magauin's works made us understand that we are equal to other nations and peoples, and that we have a rich history. He gave us the confidence to hold our heads high and say, "I am Kazakh."
By the will of Allah, the final resting place of such a brilliant personality is on American soil. The place where Mukhtar Magauin rests will undoubtedly now be regarded by Kazakhs as a sacred site. Just as Kazakhs seek out Mustafa Shokai when they visit Berlin, it is now true that when they come to the American capital, they will intend to visit Magauin's grave.
This great figure, who wrote a body of knowledge equivalent to a university education in Kazakh history, seems to demonstrate that there are no borders in knowledge, history, or books. Where one's dust settles is merely a condition. But the mission accomplished, the legacy left behind – that is boundless! Eternal!
For these works, we, the Kazakh people, are indebted to Mukhtar Magauin. Countless thanks and endless praise be to Allah, who bestowed such a personality upon the Kazakh people.
At Nauryz celebrations and various gatherings organized by our Kazakh American Association in Washington, our ancestor Mukhtar always participated, gave his blessings, and uplifted our spirits with his insightful stories.
He was the towering figure for Kazakhs in Washington.
