A snow avalanche at the Irokinda gold mine in Buryatia killed six people, including a citizen of Kazakhstan, reports Todayinfo.
The incident occurred on April 28 at the mine site in Muysky District. According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, nine workers were caught in the avalanche. Three managed to escape on their own, while the other six were found dead.
The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on charges of safety violations resulting in multiple deaths. The prosecutor's office has also launched an investigation. One of the deceased is a citizen of Kazakhstan, the others are Russians.
