In their first match of the World Championship Division IA, the Kazakhstan national team defeated their Lithuanian counterparts with a score of 4:1, reports Todayinfo.

The Lithuanians scored on a power play in the opening minutes of the match. The Kazakh team equalized in the third period, with Kirill Savitsky scoring the first goal.

Artur Gatiyatov then put the team ahead by scoring his debut puck. With five minutes remaining in the third period, Semyon Simonov made the score 3:1, and another debutant, Fyodor Khoroshev, sealed the game at 4:1.

After being relegated from the elite division in 2025, the Kazakhstan national team is competing in Division IA, aiming to return to the top 16. All tournament matches will take place in Sosnowiec, Poland.

National teams from Kazakhstan, France, Ukraine, Japan, Lithuania, and Poland will compete for a spot in the elite division. The top two teams in the tournament will be promoted, while the weakest team will be relegated to Division IB.

Today, May 3, at 15:30 Astana time, the match between Kazakhstan and Japan will take place. Qazsport TV channel will broadcast all games of our national team live, and online streaming will be available on the icehockey.kz website.
