The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan has appealed to schoolchildren and students ahead of the summer holidays, reports Todayinfo news agency.
According to the MIA, during the summer, advertisements for "easy money" and quick earnings without any effort often appear on the internet and social media. According to the agency's data, such offers often conceal illegal activities related to drugs.
This refers to the work of drug couriers, drop-offs at hidden locations, as well as the distribution and advertising of prohibited substances.
Kuandyk Alzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the MIA's Committee for Combating Drug Crime, reminded that criminal liability for drug crimes in Kazakhstan begins at the age of 16.
"Just one 'easy money' opportunity can ruin your entire life. If you are offered a suspicious job, refuse it. Do not risk your freedom, your destiny, and your life for the illusion of quick money. Make a conscious choice for your entire life, not just for one summer. Freedom is more valuable than money. The future is more important than profit," said Kuandyk Alzhanov.
The MIA noted that the punishment for drug-related crimes is one of the most severe and can include life imprisonment.
Previously, the MIA had appealed to parents due to the increasing involvement of minors in crimes related to the illegal drug trade. Teenagers are offered "easy money" as drop-offs at hidden locations through social networks and messengers.
