People's Writer of Kazakhstan, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, prominent poet and public figure Mukhtar Shakhanov passed away on April 19. The farewell ceremony for the poet will be held in Almaty, reports Todayinfo.kz.
The farewell ceremony for the deceased will be held in Almaty on April 21 at 09:00 at the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater.
The memorial meal will take place the same day at 13:00 at the LuxHall banquet hall at 341/1 Dostyk Avenue.
The poet will be buried at the Kensai-2 cemetery.
Mukhtar Shakhanov is a poet with a unique voice in Kazakh poetry, who boldly raised acute issues concerning the fate of the nation. He was active not only in literature but also in socio-political life, working persistently for the country's interests. He is especially known for his stance in defending historical justice and national values.
