A forest fire broke out near the Bukhtarma reservoir in the East Kazakhstan region, reports the Todayinfo news agency.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire occurred in the Ayuda gorge in the Ulan district, on the territory of the Primorsk forestry.
Grass, shrubs, and trees were burning at the scene. The firefighting efforts were complicated by mountainous terrain and strong winds.
"Thanks to the measures taken, the spread of the fire has been contained. Currently, there are no open flames. The situation is under control," said a statement on Sunday.
Forces from the forestry service and units of the Department of Emergency Situations, as well as aviation from the MES, were involved in extinguishing the fire.
Specifically, a "Kazaviaspas" aircraft made seven water drops totaling 21 tons.
