In Astana, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the international symposium "Golden Horde – a Model of Steppe Civilization, History, Archaeology, Culture, Identity" and extensively addressed the issue of historical continuity in the new Constitution, Todayinfo.kz reports.
A special delegation from more than 20 countries around the world attended the plenary meeting, including medieval historians, archaeologists, orientalists, Turkologists, Mongolists, numismatists, epigraphy specialists, political scientists, cultural scientists, art historians, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations. During the event, the President specifically highlighted the importance of modernizing society and preserving national heritage, outlining the state's future strategic direction.
"As you all know, Kazakhstan has been implementing large-scale political and economic reforms in recent years. This is undoubtedly a very important and responsible step for our country. Therefore, we clearly understand the task ahead: without a change in consciousness, society will not modernize, and the state will not prosper. This is the truth. Among these, the issue of preserving historical continuity is particularly relevant. It is clear that there will be no development without it. If we do not respect the past, it will be difficult to move towards a bright future. For this reason, as a forward-thinking nation, we will confidently step only forward. The new Constitution, adopted in the nationwide referendum, clearly states that preserving the continuity of the Great Steppe, with its thousands of years of history, is a sacred duty. Because we are the direct heirs of the Golden Horde, which championed the idea of 'Mangilik El' (Eternal Nation) in state affairs," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
