Rescuers in the mountains of Almaty have found a tourist who had been out of contact for several days after a hike in the Shymbulak area, reports Todayinfo. His phone was out of range, prompting relatives to seek help from emergency services.
The man set off into the mountains on May 20 and was expected to return two days later, but did not arrive home at the appointed time. His phone was out of range, after which his relatives contacted rescuers for assistance.
Employees of the "Barys" Republican Rescue Squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan and the Rescue Service of the Department of Emergency Situations of Almaty city promptly launched a search operation. The rescue team ascended to an altitude of about 3200 meters and on foot surveyed the slope towards Chimbulachka Peak.
During the route inspection, the missing tourist was successfully located. The man did not require medical assistance.
Rescuers escorted him to the high-mountain ice rink Medeu, where he was handed over to his relatives.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that before heading into the mountains, it is necessary to inform loved ones of the route, the estimated time of return, and to maintain communication whenever possible.
