According to the President, this will be the first event by global standards to reflect a fundamental shift in the development of the creative industry.
"Artificial intelligence is radically changing the very nature of creativity, opening up new forms of self-expression and lowering all sorts of barriers for talented authors. Kazakhstan strives to become an active participant in these global changes. At the same time, we must take into account some pessimistic forecasts that claim that artificial intelligence will essentially destroy the creative industry, at least in the form it currently exists. Therefore, we need to catch all trends and skillfully adapt to them. Holding the festival is of great importance in terms of promoting our country on the international stage as one of the centers of innovation and creative initiatives," the President emphasized.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that the process of digitalization and the total introduction of artificial intelligence open the way to large-scale transformations.
– Therefore, we pay special attention to improving the competencies of citizens and teaching them digital skills. To date, more than 650 thousand students are studying under the Al Sana program. In the near future, it is necessary to train another 100 thousand specialists in the field of artificial intelligence and deeptech technologies. This year, an important event in the scientific and educational sphere is expected in the country. A technological educational institution of a new format – the University of Artificial Intelligence – will be opened. Now we have a primary task: to cultivate qualified personnel for this industry. It is necessary to attract talented youth and create conditions for them to receive quality education. It is also extremely important to support promising technological projects and companies. Undoubtedly, systematic work in this direction will give a powerful impetus to the development of the entire country," the Head of State said.
The President stated that it is at such tournaments that talents distinguished by sharp minds and deep knowledge are identified.
– Representative and content-rich competitions open up opportunities for broad popularization of the values of self-development, creativity and curiosity, as well as for the formation of a new technological culture. The Alem.ai battle competition was attended by schoolchildren, students, young scientists and IT specialists who actively exchanged experiences and supported each other. During the competition, our talents presented innovative solutions in the fields of healthcare, education and AI model training. Therefore, this tournament can rightfully be called a competition of advanced ideas. I am confident that such competitions will become a powerful incentive for your professional growth and will open up opportunities for the implementation of significant projects that are in demand both in our country and around the world. Also of particular importance is the AI Governance Cup competition, during which advanced initiatives aimed at integrating AI into the public administration system were presented. Among them, we can highlight digital solutions for automating the medical screening system, ensuring intelligent prosecutorial supervision and supporting teaching activities. All these developments should not remain at the level of ideas or pilot projects. The main goal is the gradual scaling of innovations into the practice of government bodies in order to increase the efficiency of their activities. This needs to be given priority attention. Winning at competitions of this level is a significant achievement. Undoubtedly, all your successes are the result of painstaking search and tireless work. I am sincerely grateful to all of you. The state places great hopes on the energy of proactive and creative citizens and will always support them," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev concluded his speech.
