A 26-year-old man suspected of brutally beating an elderly woman at a bus stop in Almaty has been arrested. This was reported by the city police department, reports Todayinfo.
According to police, the suspect was taken into custody with a court sanction. The investigation requested the arrest, and the prosecutor's office and court supported it.
Recall that on April 23, a video was published on social media showing a young man approaching an elderly woman standing at a bus stop and brutally beating her with his fists, and after she fell, kicking her in the head. The victim's daughter wrote on social media that the man attacked her mother without reason.
Police identified the suspect and released a video of his arrest. It turned out that the man had previously been convicted of murder and causing grievous bodily harm while exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense. The court sentenced him to two years in a minimum-security penal institution and ordered compulsory outpatient psychiatric observation and treatment. It also became known that in 2018, the man suffered from acute polymorphic psychotic disorder with symptoms of schizophrenia.
