Classic of Kazakh literature: 90 years since the birth of Kabdesh Zhumadilov

He was born in Shauyeshek district, Tarbagatai region, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University). In 1965-1967 – literary staff member of the newspaper "Kazakh Adebieti", in 1967-1976 – editor of the publishing house "Zhazushy", in 1976-1981 – responsible employee of the State Committee of Kazakhstan for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade. Since 1980 he has been engaged in creative work. K. Zhumadilov's first poems were published in the local press from 1954. His first story "Zhamal" was published in 1956 in the magazine "Shugyla" published in Urumqi. He wrote 10 novels, 13 novellas, more than 50 stories, many articles, author of the poetry collection "Zhas dauren", the story collection "Kazdar kaytyp barady", the novels "Kokeykesti", "Atameken", "Tagdyr", the dilogies "Daraboz" and "Songy kosh". In 1998, his major work of recent years, the autobiographical novel "Tangazhayyp dunie", was published. In 2008, the writer's book "Mangilik maidan" was published, and in 2010, the novellas and stories "Tozak oty". The writer's journalistic articles were published in the collection "Khalyn elim, kazagym". K. Zhumadilov's works have been published in many foreign languages, including Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Uzbek, Uyghur, Kyrgyz. He was awarded the Order "Parasat", the medal "Kultegin" for his significant contribution to the development of the country's culture, and the Certificate of Honor of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR.
