Today, on National Book Day, the foundation of the third Presidential Library in the country was laid in Kyzylorda with the participation of regional governor Nurlybek Nalibayev, philanthropist Eduard Ogay, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan Abzal Yeraliyev, law enforcement heads, and intellectuals.
The head of the region congratulated those gathered on April 23 – National Book Day, the professional holiday of librarians, and the start of construction of the new library.
"As you know, during a working visit to our region last year, the Head of State announced that a third Presidential Library, operating around the clock like those in Astana and Almaty, would open in Kyzylorda. Our compatriots received this initiative with great joy.
Today, together with you, we have gathered for the capsule-laying ceremony of one of the most important projects for our region – the Presidential Library, which will become a golden pillar of education and culture.
I express my sincere gratitude and deep appreciation on behalf of all the people of Syr to the well-known philanthropist Eduard Viktorovich Ogay for sponsoring this important project. The new library, built with sponsorship of 20 billion tenge, covering an area of 13,000 square meters, will be architectural and meet modern requirements. The building will include reading, conference, publication, archive and rare fund halls, an electronic library, a world literature section and art galleries, exhibition and coworking centers, and a restoration workshop.
This is the support of our President, aimed at the spiritual development of the people and raising the culture of reading to a new level.
The new facility will not just be a place for books, but a house of upbringing and edification, glorifying the history, culture and civilization of our nation, opening the spiritual breath of our compatriots! I wish that the construction of the new library is successfully completed, serves the good of the country, and contributes to the flourishing of national spirituality and education," said Nurlybek Mashbekuly.
At the ceremony, Eduard Viktorovich and Shakizada Abdikarimov, member of the Writers' Union and Journalists' Union of Kazakhstan, spoke.
It should be noted that since 2022, 22 cultural facilities have been built and put into operation in the region. "Spirituality Centers" have been opened in all districts. In the main city of the region, the "Art Center", "Bow to Mother", "Family Center", and "Palace of Schoolchildren" have been erected.
Last year, on the 100th anniversary of Kyzylorda as a capital, a new building of the regional historical and local lore museum was built, and on the 30th anniversary of the Assembly, with the support of Kazatomprom, a new building of the "House of Friendship" was built.
In recent years, the "Syr Zhuldyzdary" academy, "Art School" and "House of Schoolchildren" in Zhalagash, Zhanakorgan and Shieli districts have been put into operation.
