In Shymkent, auto-blogger Bibarys Raimbekov (also known as Ruslan Zhanpeisov) was arrested for 15 days for disobeying police. The reason was his live streams and comments during the 'Safe Road' raid. Law enforcement claimed the blogger interfered with their work.
However, Zhanpeisov told a different story in court. 'Police officers called me and said I needed to film these raids. You have many subscribers, inform the citizens. I filmed it at their request. They told me to explain to car owners that they should always have vests and fire extinguishers. That's all. I didn't do anything against them,' he explained.
The court used video footage from the raid as key evidence and ruled against the blogger. Earlier, on April 23, the administrative court of Shymkent had acquitted Zhanpeisov, finding no offense. But the appeal overturned that decision.
The blogger disagrees with the arrest, and the story is likely to continue.
