Major irregularities have been uncovered during the construction of a hospital in Stepnogorsk, reports Todayinfo. According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the contractor allegedly "saved" millions of tenge during the construction of the operating block.
The contract with the contractor has been terminated, and efforts are underway to recover the funds through court action.
"During the inspection, violations of construction norms by the contractor were identified, which led to substandard work and unjustified payments of budget funds. The violations were made possible due to a lack of proper control from technical and author supervision, as well as the client," the statement said.
The client has filed a lawsuit to recover 80 million tenge in budget funds. Two officials from the Health Department have been brought to disciplinary responsibility.
Currently, a new contractor is being sought to complete the work as quickly as possible.
