Turkistan hosts qualifying round of "Senat Open" chess cup

The qualifying round of the III "Senat Open" chess cup was successfully organized and concluded in Turkistan city, reports Todayinfo.

This intellectual competition was organized by the Turkistan Regional Maslikhat. It received support from the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Chess Federation.

The solemn opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by deputies of regional, district, and city maslikhats. Government officials, public figures, and law enforcement officers were also present. Specialists from the fields of culture, education, healthcare, and representatives of the mass media also participated in the event.

During the ceremony, Nuraly Abishov, Chairman of the Turkistan Regional Maslikhat, delivered a speech. He congratulated the participants on the start of the significant competition.

"This tournament, organized on the initiative of Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev and with the support of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, provides a great impetus to the development of chess in our country. Chess is a unique sport that demands deep thought and prudence, developing a person's intellectual and creative abilities. Today, it has become a symbol of intelligence and strategic thinking worldwide," said the Maslikhat Chairman.

Furthermore, it was noted that the main objectives of the competition are to widely promote chess. These include engaging youth in sports, fostering intergenerational continuity, and enhancing the country's intellectual potential.

In a fierce competition, participants vied in various categories. They determined the strongest among themselves.

According to the tournament results, Kazygurt district secured first place in the team event. Otyrar district took second place, and Zhetisay district finished third.

The best participants were also identified and awarded among deputies, government officials, law enforcement officers, and cultural sector specialists. Winners among healthcare professionals, representatives of science and education, veterans, media workers, public council members, and women received special awards.

As part of the tournament, special awards were presented to participants who showed the best results from 17 districts of the Turkistan region. Additionally, certificates were given to 35 top chess players who actively participated.

At the closing ceremony of the competition, the organizers thanked the participants for their active involvement. They extended congratulations to the winners.

It should be noted that the "Senat Open" tournament consists of three stages. Participants who excel in the regional qualifying round will compete in the inter-regional semi-finals. The winners will then receive tickets to the republican final.
