"In 2006, I had just moved to Astana. I got a job at a TV channel. Soon I noticed pressure on the Kazakh language. At that time, the 50/50 law did not exist. I was outraged by the plight of our humiliated language. Because of my character, I and a group of journalists were fired. Then we, upset but not losing hope, went to Mukhtar-aga's house. He listened carefully and said: 'At the next session of the Mazhilis, I will send a deputy's inquiry. I will tell about you.' He kept his word. He defended not only with words but also with deeds. He sheltered us, fired and financially constrained, in his own home. And there were about six of us. At that moment, I realized how great he is not only as a poet and politician, but also as a person," said Dina Tolepbergen.
The journalist especially noted the poet's care and human qualities, emphasizing the significance of that period in her life.
"After his deputy's inquiry, an inspection was conducted at that TV channel, and the management was replaced. Later, the 50/50 law was passed. And I got a job at KTK channel. Every time I came to the Mazhilis, I would visit Mukhtar-aga and ask for his blessing. If I had unclear laws, aga would patiently explain. Being next to such a person is a great happiness for me. The moments when we sat in one house, talked in one office – the most precious archive of my life. The moment in the photo is a witness of that time. Mukhtar-aga, me, and an operator named Aidar. The three of us in the deputy's office in the Mazhilis. The pity is that life is not eternal. Now what we can do is read, learn, and glorify Shakhanov's behests. Only then will Mukhtar Shakhanov become eternal. Let a person die, but his word shall not die," she concluded.
