Kazakhstan continues to work on developing accessible transport infrastructure for people with special needs. This was announced by Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev at a government meeting, presenting measures within the framework of the Inclusive Policy Concept.
According to him, the activities cover three main areas: infrastructure adaptation, transport modernization, and improvement of service services.
In railway transport, about 90 percent of trains are already equipped with lifting devices and adapted compartments. By 2030, it is planned that each passenger train will have at least one specialized carriage.
At the same time, a program to renovate railway stations is being implemented. The reconstruction includes the installation of ramps, elevators and lifting mechanisms, as well as modernization of ticket offices and sanitary facilities taking into account the needs of people with limited mobility.
In the aviation sector, there is an increase in the level of accessibility of airport infrastructure. Facilities are being equipped with basic conditions for serving passengers with special needs.
In the field of road transport, phased modernization is also underway. According to the department, about 80 percent of bus stations and bus stops, as well as 79 percent of the urban bus fleet, meet accessibility requirements.
Special attention is paid to the development of the invataxi service. The number of specialized vehicles increased by 30 percent and reached 1,426 units.
