Fines of up to 8.6 million tenge are imposed in Kazakhstan for damaging natural and historical sites, reports Todayinfo.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there has been a recent increase in cases of damage to natural and historical objects for "hype" and video publication on social media.
In this regard, the police remind that such actions entail legal responsibility. Natural monuments, reserves, national parks, and historical sites are national treasures of Kazakhstan and are under state protection.
Writing on, or damaging rocks, monuments, and other cultural and natural objects is not a harmless prank but a violation of the law, for which responsibility is stipulated.
"According to Article 294 of the Criminal Code 'Vandalism,' damaging state-protected objects is punishable by a fine of 100 to 2000 MCI (from 432,500 to 8,650,000 tenge in 2026), community service, arrest for up to 50 days, or restriction or deprivation of liberty for up to three years," the police warned.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that any acts of vandalism would receive a principled legal assessment.
Previously, in the Mangystau region, police identified and brought to justice a man who left inscriptions in the Ybykty Sai tract.
