Deputy Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov commented on the reconstruction of the old Astana-1 station and its launch timeline, reports Todayinfo.
According to him, the project cost may have increased due to additional requirements from the akimat. "I don't have information that the amount has increased. These works are proceeding as planned. But since this is a strategic facility, construction and improvements are being carried out in parallel. Possibly, additional requirements from the akimat have emerged — for example, to increase capacity. At the moment, I cannot talk about any sharp rise in cost," he said.
Kaliakparov noted that the renovated station is planned to be launched by the end of the year. "We will try to launch it in autumn, before the winter period. We will make the doors wider — because currently it is inconvenient, and these changes will be implemented," said the Deputy Minister.
He also added that after reconstruction, the renovated station will have a separate food zone to prevent odors from spreading throughout the building. Earlier, the Astana station was flooded due to sewer problems.
